PMs stuck in Outbox

Post by Mountain Goat »

Besides the recipients qute possibly not wanting to read them, is there any other reason why I've got 5 messages marooned in my Outbox?

This is was before the outage outrage.

Ive had that MG
viewtopic.php?p=65010#65010 [last post]... quite regularly the 1st one sticks but subesequent ones are sent successfully..
Id cut and paste, and try again it usually works..

I think youll find, they go out of your outbox whether people want to read them or not, as soon as they log on they should receive them...whether they then open them or not is up to them then.

I've only noticed today the same thing, some have been in the Outbox for weeks.

Big Sis
Thanks for offering a solution, but sadly just don't have the time.

Perhaps the recipients inbox is 100% full?

That's a possibility, but would one get a return message if that were so? On 2nd thought, I know certainly that is not the case with one of them.

Paolo can you help please.

It could be that the recipient's inbox is full, although I still get messages when that is the case. Or it is just that the recipient has not opened the message. Or another reason I don't know about.

I know I have in the past received messages from a couple of people who have then sent them again thinking they were stuck in their out box. In both cases I had received the original message and replied to it.

Paolo

Thanks for responding. Why would a message stay in my Outbox if it has actually been sent and why isn't it showing in the Sent Box?

Chianti, perhaps the person you are sending it to has chosen not to be notified by email when they receive PM's (you can choose this in your profile) so even though they have logged on, they have not gone to their inbox and opened your messages?
I believe it would then stay in your Outbox until they read the message.
The other reason of course would be that they hadn't logged on since you wrote it.

What happens if someone sends a message, and the recipient deletes it without opening it?

Well Chianti,

Me and Helen have just exchanged pms, she didnt open the second one I sent and it stayed in my outbox.....

so it looks as if theyre not being opened by the recipient.

Ros, I have changed my profile so it doesn't notify me of PMs. Could you send me another one please?
