subscribe to a forum 'board'?

Post by Reiver »

Not even sure what the correct term for this is, but I wondered if it's possible to subscribe to a specific section, or board, of the forum? I know you can subscribe to individual topics, but I'd like to get notifications of new posts to, say, the Spain board. Can this be done? :?

Yes, this is possible.

The way a forum hierarchy is named is: Board > Forum > Topic > Post.
So in this Spain is the forum and for example 'Do you own a Spanish car?' is the topic.

Here is how you subscribe to a forum...
1. Go to the forum you are interested in, e.g. Spain.
2. At the bottom, in the darker grey band, there are the social media buttons on the left and more buttons on the right - click on the icon with the tick on the right. This subscribes you to the forum.

You also need to switch on email notifications for new topics:

1. Click on your username at top right
3. Choose 'User control panel'
3. 'Board preferences' in the top tabs
4. 'Edit display notifications' in the left column

Choose which of these you want to get emails for:

Someone replies to a topic you have bookmarked
Someone replies to a topic to which you are subscribed
Someone quotes you in a post
Someone creates a topic in a forum to which you are subscribed
Someone replies to a topic in a forum to which you are subscribed
Someone sends you a private message
