Do you own a Spanish car?

Post by costa-brava »

We got three Christmas cards this morning, two from family and one from Mr Tributaria. When I opened the one from the Spanish tax man I was pleasantly surprised. Instead of a letter to say I'd made an error in my tax return it was much less ominous, just a bill for €40 for the new contamination tax on cars. Mine is 1999 and although it hardly ever leaves the door, it is in one of the offending categories.
So, if you have an old or very big vehicle you will probably have received a bill too. It came "certificada" so I had to sign for it. If you are currently in the UK, it will lie in the post office for a couple of weeks and then be returned to Agencia Tributaria.
But you'll still have the bill outstanding.
Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the correction CSE. It is indeed just Catalonia for now.
Sorry if I frightened anybody.
