HFD demise

Post by SPJ »

Sorry to see Holiday France Direct is throwing in the towel 30th September, though not surprised.

I used their Quickbook system and thought it was very fair. Had several good bookings through them.

With their departure I'll be left with Vrbo and my own website.

Yes, sad situation.
We’ve lost both HFD and CN . Not sure which site to use in the future as we prefer to be in direct contact with our prospective guests.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Perhaps "Simply Owners". They encourage guest contact.

Try Independent Cottages.

I've never had a booking from Simply Owners.

From a quick look, maybe for UK, not for France?

We use France-voyage.com from which we receive around half of our bookings. Subscription based, very reasonable (42€ one year, 78€ 2 years).

We did our advert in French but they translate into 8 other languages. we have had bookings from Dutch, German, Italian, French and recently American (from Florida). Our advert is number 112480.

Hope this helps.

Shame they are closing - I've had 3 enquiries in the last couple of weeks and out of that a booking for next year. I think they are making a mistake because people like the idea of driving rather than flying and HFD do not add outrageous "service" fees.

Interested to see Britany Ferries itself is still advertising cottages/gites as part of a ferry/accommodation package option.

Anyone know what that's about?

I can't see anything on that part of their site that offers me the chance as a gite owner to get in touch to advertise.
