2021 - summer cancelled

Post by leon »

German booking:
"Very sorry to cancel but it is now clear that we will not be able to travel to France without going into quarantine on both sides.
We are all vaccinated and believed that we would be ok to travel when we booked."
The first of many, no doubt. Or all.

Well that is actually inaccurate as with the new European passport details announced then all vaccinated people in the EU can travel for holidays to other EU countries.

My poor memory:it is a German couple living in London.
And the new European passport details announced came today, after the annulation.

From today's Daily Telegraph:

Vaccinated Britons can enter France freely from next week

Travellers with two jabs will only need proof of an antigen test and no longer need to have a "compelling reason" for their visit

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/0 ... ek-travel/

But because of having to quarantine on return to the UK - and because there was such an unexpected u-turn with Portugal – guessing we will not be getting UK guests.

But hopefully we have enough EU guests who want holidays - specially those in northern europe wanting some sunshine further south.

We're operating with such low expectations that if we can scrape through and just pay the bills - it will be a successful 2021.

EDITED AS JUST SEEN THIS PART OF THE ARTICLE:

"Children accompanying unvaccinated adults will also need to have a “compelling reason” for their visit, and will also have to self-isolate for seven days.

No details were provided on a cut-off age for vaccinations, although France’s domestic health pass system waives any testing requirements to the under 11s.

If confirmed as the correct age, this could prove a headache for British families with teenagers or older children this summer, as there are no current plans to vaccinate teenagers in the UK. France, meanwhile, has opened jabs to this age bracket starting June 15."
