Emergency rechargeable torch lights

Agencies and other headaches, keys and cleaners, running costs and contracts...in short, all the things we spend so much of our time doing behind the scenes.<br>

Emergency rechargeable torch lights

Post by Joanna »

We have Quantek torch lights in our cottages. One has stopped working and they don't seem to make them anymore. Can anyone recommend a substitute? We used SafeTlights in the past which were useless - guests constantly broke the fins in the charging plug.

What we're looking for is a torch that sits in a charger that plugs in to a normal socket and will switch on automatically in a power cut. A night light is nice but not essential. Must be easy to pick up & use as a torch in an emergency - basically idiot proof :D

Would it not be better to just fit emergency lighting?? This will come on and illuminate when there is a power cut. We gave this on the landing to ensure that the stairs are as safe as possible.

You might want to check out the Auraglow PIR Motion Night Light. The lights look good, are robust and do not have the dreaded fins.

We had 2 Quantek torches to supplement our emergency lighting and as a convenience to our guests.
Brilliant - still have 2 in our house

Sadly they stopped working after 2 years and we could not find replacements at a sensible price.

We now have "Safe T light`s".
Although not quite as good as the quantek, they are much cheaper - so not a head ache if one gets taken home (hasn`t happened yet).
You can find them on line/ebay.
Best,

Sorry Joanna, just re-read your post.

We have had no problem with Safe T lights.

I think the Safe-T-Lights were redesigned. The original had 4 thin fins that got bent by guests ramming the torch in when not aligned. I spoke to the designed and he provided some new holders at low cost/ Looking at pictures of the ones shipping now they seem to have 2 wider fins so should be more robust.

Thanks all - I'll ask our electrician about proper emergency lighting & in the meantime look at the other torches. It's useful to have torches anyway so we may end up with both.

Take a look on Amazon for emergency lighting - that way you will know how much it costs. Prices can start at about £20.
