Invoicing books and invoicing requirements generally
Hi,
My accountant in Portugal says I need an official invoicing book printed from the official print shop. I'm sure someone somewhere said that it is okay to use electronic invoices now.
Which is correct and what do people on here do? We use a UK agency.

I registered myself as simplified Cat B business. This is a very new thing. It means you do not have to keep records of costs etc - most of which were not allowable anyway. It means you are taxed on 15% of your gross rental income - simple.
BUT, you do have to send the tax office copies of invoices each month. You can register with the tax office to send these electronically, but it has to be done with specialised software.
My accountant does all this for me. I email him with the details, and he submits them monthly online direct to the tax office.
There is no paper.
.... And he charges me an outrageous sum to do all that

Ah yes this is definitely the regime the accountant has suggested with the simplified taxes (at a price too when it comes to her fees!!)
I would much prefer to do it electronically via software but she didn't even mention that as an option.
I use a UK-based agency for my rental guests so if I did use software, how might that work? I could get info from them with the client names etc. but what else do you need for the invoices?
This is all so complicated!

I submit my invoices via toconline, which was set up by my accountant and costs around 6€ per month, but I do my own rentals so have all the info
If the clients are Portuguese you need their fiscal number and address, if not just name and country of residence, plus how much they've paid (in euros) and date of stay

So far, I've reported using the Portal das Finanças directly at https://www.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/pt ... orm.action without the assistance of a Portuguese accountant.
Whether I'm doing it right remains to be seen.
For non-Portuguese it asks for a passport or other ID/tax number.

Thanks. That would be great. Hmmm I need to decide asap as I need to get the invoice book printed in time for the first run of submissions to finance. Suspect I will have to just do it that way for now. As my agency is in the UK, I guess I just get the client's details, add the amount and then send it to the accountant...annoying though!
