It's an association formed post-war to try and boost rural areas:

As a user who started out actually BUYING GdF paper guides, I agree that the websites took ages to catch up, and may not have done so yet... also each département does communication its own way so there was no consistency between their websites. I still have a look when searching but if there's no more detail than the basic info page I soon look elsewhere. In fact it was you people on LMH that taught me how they apply their standards, a bit like hotel stars that tell you about the facilities but nothing about whether it's actually a pleasant hotel!

I did get a reply from them:

So they want a one off payment of 200€ to be inspected and given a rating
Subscription rate is half a peak week
Commission is 15%
Any advert should also appear on the English version.

I had a look at similar properties to us locally and very few are fully booked through the summer and even fewer properteis have any Sept/Oct bookings. I am booked solid until early Sept so was hoping GdF might bring me some later bookings via their commission system. However no way am I spending out 200€ and then 15% on top of that for any booking for a site that does not seem to attract bookings when I want them.

I've had a few out of season bookings from France-Voyages.

We went to their office for an arranged meeting, they kept us waiting for almost an hour and when the manager did turn up in all his arrogance, he was as stoned. (Reminded me of some guys i used to know when i played at the Marquee). We didnt stay long, just quickly worked out that our marketing cost would rise from 2% (those were the days) to about 15% if we joined.

Our best French provider is A-gites but they not as good as they used to be.
