I need to obtain an energy certificate for our villa. I presumed I would get it from EDP who supply our electricity but reading another forum there was this question and the reply suggested you had to get a certificate from an electrician - and of course pay for it!!
Can someone please advise me

Hi Marg,

It's an Energy Performance Certificate (Certificado Energetica) so it doesn't just relate to your electricity supply - it evaluates your home's performance with regard to energy use and efficiency (electric, gas, solar, blah blah, etc...) - heat insulation, noise insulation etc...

By law you need one to sell or rent your home, exactly as you do in UK. And I suppose all other EU countries.

An independent engineer or surveyor has to be licensed to issue it. I don't know how much but I think it depends on the size of the property.

I've heard good things about this guy.
