Insurance peculiar to France?

From the moment they step through the door your bookings become guests, and their experiences determine whether they ever come back.

Insurance peculiar to France?

Post by pepsipuss »

Can anyone living in France help with this. A guest has enquired to know whether insurance is included in the price in case their is a problem with the house or should he need to use his own.
De plus, je voulais savoir si des assurances étaient comprise dans le prix ou si je devais faire appel à la mienne au cas où d'un quelconque problème avec la maison?
Can anyone tell me what sort of insurance he might mean? Is it something the French normally have? It doesn't seem to fit into the category of public liability or damage to contents and it obviously doesn't relate to his travel insurance.

Just a guess:

In my Intasure holiday home policy there is a specific item for what they call "accidental damage by guests". While it has a massive £250 excess it covers damage caused to the property or fixtures.

This is not necessarily standard in all policies.

Thanks Richard. I wondered about something like that and in fact we have it as we pay a premium to cover rental issues (although with an excess like yours). However his wording mystifies me 'some sort of problem with the house' which seems to imply a problem outside of his control rather than 'in case we break anything'.

I may have to ask him for clarification!

In France you have personal liability insurance as part of your house insurance, so you are insured for damage you cause in a property. I would say that you have public liability insurance for things like fire etc. in the property, but you are not insured for damage done to the property by clients and in this case he would have to rely on his insurance.

"Assurance responsabilité civile personelle" for that of the client and "assurance responsabilité civile professionelle" for the one you offer, although "assurance responsabilité civile" really covers both.
