I agree, there is so much recapping on previous episodes that it really is only watchable with a fast forward remote!

Thank you Enid and Ian and Irene for the shopping tips but the one she had for petite dejeuner had a centre point that went into the cheese and then the slicer bit rotated in a circle above to produce wafer thin offerings,

Im sure if I got one for mrsps forthcoming birthday I would be god for the day (or similar anyway)

Loved the first one !

Was it this? http://www.thegreenhead.com/2008/04/che ... vagnby.php

I'm getting obsessed with cheese slicers now.

I know the one you mean Pete but I didn't see the programme so am guessing it's for a cheese called 'Tete de Moine'. I've got one, the cheese slicer that is, pretty sure it's called a girolle. I'll go and investigate......

thats it (the one showing off twice)

I do think it would cut cheddar if thats what you want it for, we get some local robbie tombes and that would be perfect, and of course make a far better birthday pressie than saucepans.

We have cheddar sometimes, and offer it to our french guests for a taste, but we dont cry if theres none.

I hope hes not on tomorrow, we are out and no way of recording it so will have to wait for the repeat.

What a mess that Girolle makes of the cheese.

Having that in the house (and with regard to food hygiene) how would one store the cheese after use on the table? can you remove it from the cheese without damage?

For those who miss it first time round, I think there's a catchup omnibus edition on Sunday afternoons on Channel 4 where they show all 5 of the week's episodes back to back.

I think the french version of keeping the cheese healthy would be to leave it out to the elements to dry, one of those nice mesh cheese cupboards will be on the list next !!

Dotty, in this house sunday is spelt golf
