Travel Insurance

From the moment they step through the door your bookings become guests, and their experiences determine whether they ever come back.

Travel Insurance

Post by CarolineH »

A friend of mine has just emailed me saying that he is trying to book a gite in Province (don't understand why he doesn't want to come to Brittany, it's much nicer here  ) and everyone he contacts asks him to provide proof that he has travel insurance or else he must buy it from them

Why would this be? Apart from them making commission on the insurance, he has said that it's been the case for each gite he contacted. Surely, it's up to him if he's insured or not?

A few French people we know who have gites also insist that their guests provide proof that they have insurance so maybe it's a French thing. I think it's more regarding damage caused rather than against cancellation losses.
We tell guests it's strongly advisable to have insurance against cancellation but ultimately it's up to them. I wouldn't have thought you could insist.
