Selling our large historic stone house

My dear wife and I have lived happily in our house in Mayenne for six years, but we plan to move back to our beloved Manche, and then eventually back to England. The house is historic (probably late 18th century) and has hand crafted ceiling roses, elaborate coving and marble fireplaces. It could be used for B&B and/or holiday accomodation. There is a self contained flat within the house.

A few key features:

200 sq.m of living space;
Four/five bedrooms plus flat;
Four wcs, two showers, one bathroom;
Nearly one hectare of land, fenced, flat and well drained (ideal for keeping animals);
Front and rear gardens with flowering shrubs;
Fruit tree garden;
Large vegetable garden;
Garage;
Two large outbuildings - one in stone and could be made into a gite.
Oil central heating;
New electrics throughout;
Mains drainage

Much more information, lots of photos and two videos are on our website; please click on bottom link below (house-for-sale-in-mayenne.com)

Hi LPC

It looks to be a lovely property, I wish you well with your sale. What will happen to Josette and the girls? We passed our small flock of 17 Portlands and assorted odds and sods to the incoming owner when we sold up in England and the girls have carried on contentedly munching the grass.

Thanks for the message, Jimbo! We will keep a few of our "favourites" with us if/when we sell the house and move back to our "old" home in Normandy (the one currently used as a gite). Yes, I know you shouldn't have favourites - but we can't keep all our beloved sheep! Unfortunately, financial necessity rules over emotions! EWE know what I mean. No point in being sheepish about it!

Are you deliberately trying to RAM those awful puns at us?

Good luck with the sale. ;)

Final reduction! €260 000. If it doesn't sell at this price, it will be withdrawn and we will move into our gite and then sell that instead. So the last chance (up to Christmas) to get a bargain!

Just wanted to say that hope health improves and that an interested buyer appears on the horizon soon.

Have you tried Suzanne, an immo in Gathemo which is near Sourdeval / St Pois? Mayenne may be out of her area but she sold a small-medium sized house (near Gathemo) for British acquaintances in a week and they said she was very professional and proactive. In fact the house was viewed and sold before she even had chance to put it on her website.

Other than that, I know nothing about her - not even sure if she's French or British, for eg - so this is a for info post, not a recommendation as such.

Thank you, Normandie. Yes, we are already registered with her. I agree that she has a very professional attitude. She is English but living in France and working as an estate agent.

Our house is still for sale, at the bargain price of €220 000. If you don't believe me, make some comparisons for yourself of what you will get for this amount of money. Our website has changed and is now shown below.

ive sent the details to my nephew and his french wife. I hear that they are looking at moving back to France from Australia and may be looking at this type of opportunity. Only heard that on the family rumour mill but thought it was worth a punt. That is such good value.
