Buying in Portugal

We're thinking of buying a small property in Central Portugal.
Any tips, advice, warnings etc would be gratefully received.

There are many things to be aware of - probably best to join a forum like expats Portugal - lots of advice to be had there!

Hello...consider joining:
www.expatsportugal.com ...great site with, it seems, most of the folks from Great Britian and buying properties in Central Portugal. There are also several books : advise on buying properties in Portugal. We found them at Amazon.co.uk.....I typed in Buying Property in portugal and found several helpful titles...
We have been lucky that we have a great estate agent who is British but has lived here for over 20 years and is married to a Portuguese. she has been great help. we are due to close on our property by the middle of August....
We are buying in the Sintra area, if you´d like contacts for agents in this area please PM me...
