Hi everyone! I'd echo Andrew's point about needing to have your own website. People are getting savvy about googling for property by name, owners name or some other unique facility. I managed to mention my website quite a few times dotted around my HA and TA pages. Here's what I did (incase it's use...

In one word....useless. I liberally sprinkled my ad with my website and contact details so I assume some of my direct enquiries might have come from them. Last year I didn't book any dates out on the calendar to see what happened; I got a lot of last minute panicked peak weeks enquiries, so I reckon...

I read this earlier and was comforted to see that many of the comments from readers suggested using these portals only to identify accommodation and then going direct to the owners. Maybe the message is getting through slowly as most explained that by cutting out the middle man people would avoid th...

I did the same as SPJ in our downstairs twin. They're 2 big standard twin beds and I tie them together at the bottom and top with cable ties. I then put a very thick padded mattress protector over both mattresses. It is a 6ft one. None of the beds had headboards and I panelled the wall behind so it ...

Gillian I have nothing constructive to add to this thread but I wanted to offer my sympathies for the nightmare you have/are going through. I can't begin to imagine the stress and anguish this has caused you. In a way I can empathise with your cynicism as 2 years ago I found out our private pensions...

Really pleased for you, Mouse! Wishing you a very happy next chapter. So are you staying south or heading north? Heading North Ecosse. Need to be within a hour or so of elderly parents. We are currently looking at the Dales (west), the ribble valley and possibly around Kirkby Lonsdale/Lune valley (...

Thank you so much for your lovely comments everyone. I'm so pleased to hear I've helped over the years. Kathy I found it very difficult emotionally....not the fact that we were selling up and moving on, as once I tend to make my mind up that's that...but more so the rollercoaster of emotions ...

Thanks everyone! I don't think I could ever leave LMH completely so you will still have me around  It has been a brilliant support over the years and, as Mols kindly says, I've got to know so many people on here that I consider friends. Apex I think the people that have bought will rent out the...

We've done it!

We have finally sold the villa! It will be the end of January when we complete and so by the beginning of February we should be leaving Ibiza almost 24 yrs to the date. We are very happy at the thought that we will be doing no more changeovers in 30+degree heat. This summer, although we had a 3 week...

It is a good thought for any owner to have. Things can happen. We always advise guests on check in never to leave keys in the door. We explain that it prevents anyone gaining access with another set of keys either another member of their party or us in an emergency. No 9ne has ever queried that. TBH...

We have a similar problem with guests being unable, or unwilling, to shut the shutters (a simple action of a twist on a round knob, and yes we explain on the meet n greet) and so drag the curtains to close, which are not meant to. This means I'm forever on a stepladder on changeover day trying to ge...

Can't you just renew the contract on a 30 day basis? That's what they do here to get around tenant protection.

I'm in Ibiza so not sure if this company is relevant to your area but I have been with Tots to Travel for 4 years now and they give me far more business than TA and HA.....which is easy as I get no bookings from them at all now! I'm not with air bnb or booking.cm so they're my main supplier of booki...
