I read this; but my question was that if you get two couples staying and I've only collected the contact details of one of them (the one who booked), is there going to be a delay in the second couple getting notified? If both couples had the app and had scanned the QR code wouldn't the second coupl...

This from PASC is useful: ‼️Track and Trace compulsory from Friday ‼️ Self-catering operators should be collecting track and trace data at the moment. It becomes a legal requirement for them to collect it this Friday (18th). The 24th is when the QR-based NHS...

How much land do you need for heat source pump?
Enough to sink a borehole for a GSHP, none for an ASHP.

A ground source heat pump with underfloor heating. No radiators so furniture layout is much easier. Expensive to install, but unbelievably cheap to run. Hugely energy efficient (as long as your insulation is up to scratch). A much cheaper option from an installation point of view would be electric ...

There’s a real need for a payment method that fits our business. If we install a charging point that’s available for Joe Public to drop by and use at will (which we couldn’t anyway) it’s viable for the electricity resellers and there are subsidised options for points with payment via apps and maybe ...

Don’t underestimate the problems of running the let from a distance if that’s what you’re intending; it’s significantly worse at the moment as the cleaning protocols we have to follow for Covid require much more cleaning time, and if you’re hoping to find someone local to do the cleaning to the nece...

I believe the AA scheme is free to anyone to apply, as is the Visit England “Good to Go” scheme. The AA scheme requires more detailed information from the applicant.

At the moment Sykes seem very accommodating. Any bear traps in the contract I should be aware of? Just do a search on this forum for "Sykes" and see what comes up. That will show you the bear traps. What SPJ says. Just run away. A lot of Sykes' recent activities don’t feature so highly on...

This is a rough rule of thumb, but holds up reasonably well over around 12 years of letting. It doesn’t quite answer your specific question, but a good guide for profit/revenue, with no agency fees and no loans to service, is around 50%. There’s a BUT here of course, which is that Covid has had one ...

I think a number of policies have guest cancellation cover, even if it’s an add-on; it’s certainly offered on the policy I have with NFU.

The fact that you are considering Sykes, and that number of bookings is the key, rather suggests that you haven’t done much essential research into the business. Are you fully clued up on all the legal requirements to which you’ll have to conform - a really good place to start is here But in all thi...

I agree that £125 is a lot, although like Cymraes when I saw what they were doing for us in the current crisis it seemed cheap. Assuming, as is quite likely, that £125 is enough to put a lot of owners off, I wonder what the “sweet spot” amount would be that would attract most owners to join - and th...
