I've sent an e Christmas card out every year for the past 12 yrs. It really does help keep that connection and is instrumental in getting bookings. I use the Jackie Lawson website to send the cards so it's easy peasy.

Thee are different levels of quality you can get now. So it looks much better than it did a few years ago. In places that have had it laid I haven't noticed any fading or deterioration. The main things friends have said is that it gets quite hot (obviously we are a very sunny, hot location) and it's...

Just a couple of things to add to the mix; Tea towels.....I bought black with very narrow white stripes. Perfect. You don't see the stains. 5yrs and still going strong. They were from m&s. Pure linen....you might think it's expensive but it can be washed at high temps and doesn't need ironing as...

We deal with mostly weekly bookings and don't advertise a washing machine. Although we do tell guests we will do a service wash when they arrive. It has only ever been a problem once. In the main around 50% ask for stuff to be washed....but it is really abused. We see ridiculous stuff being washed t...

Mind you every where's expensive property wise in the UK :( I don't think property's really going to be a problem, have you seen the prices in Ibiza? I do agree a...

So true Jensen. I think we did it the reverse way by coming out here in my 30's and returning to Blighty for 'retirement'. We just miss culture, history, live music, theatre, the ability to travel on easy flights at good prices. Island life can be restrictive. I'm sure we'll embrace the weather....a...

I've always been in awe of whoever runs a bnb. The work involved and the compromises made to your day to day lives is something I would definately struggle with. We're so happy to say goodbye to guests at the end of a 16wk season, that I don't think I'd have the stamina to do more than that. We've h...

We changed to duck boards in bath and shower rooms, which get bleached each change over. Ah nooo.... ! That's just painful on the feet (assuming they're the thin slatted ones and you have stupid feet like me) and then you have the 'joy' of not being able to dry your soles at all so you leave wet fo...

At the point of selling our place I've had many conversations about the market but we're in Spain....and more specifically Ibiza which is different again compared to the rest of Spain. Talking to the agents who deal mainly with Brits....the word on the Street is that they're concerned about both bre...

As an owner who lives in site I would suggest you meet your guests at some point, if only to say hello. People are curious and having a 'stranger' above them may be disconserting for some. It also adds the personal touch. As you are there constantly, then they could speak with you over any issues th...

Just make sure they understand that at 10am you have to be in. The day before I whatsapp them a reminder of what they need to do on departure, reiterating that they need to leave at 10am. Normally (as we're on site) we start 'being around' about 10 minutes beforehand asking are they ready to go/do t...
