I too wonder how long these companies will get away with charging extortionate commissions. I had hoped it might be consumer led, by the holidaymakers when they finally realise that they are paying much more when seeing the 'fee'. Perhaps these sites have also wondered this hence the move to hiding ...

Hi saralou, we used to have a member who had lodges in the lakes. If you search you may find various posts. I recall he was quite successful but then problems occurred with the site owners and competition increased. I remember it being very stressful for him. He eventually sold and got out. Did you ...

So Mousey, I figure your annual usage is roughly 320 kltrs, or cubic metres. That’s not out of line with my figures, given your longer season and higher people numbers. If LotBoy is using way over that, amended for his higher guest numbers, I would think there’s a problem somewhere. Agreed Mols. Mo...

We have an 8000L cisterna and our villa usually has 6 guests (we sleep eight), plus us 2 on site, in summer every week. We order 10,000L each week normally. 8000L in to the cisterna and the remainder tops up the pool. In the off season, with just us 2, we only reordered a tank of water every 6 wks. ...

Just to add to SPJs advice.....we have our pool pump running 6hrs a day in high season and ours is only a 10x5m pool. So I think that may be your problem. We have had cloudy water but only when the temps have been exceptional or we have had a lot of sun lotion due to a lot of people. Only 1 year hav...

£100  +1 If folk in these parts shelled out £100 after each power cut or breaker trip they'd end up owing the guests money at the end of their stay! The tea & toast was more than sufficient IMO, regardless of any review 'system' +2 I hate to say it but things happen and if owners offered...

You are being overly generous :) As per everyone else I let them buy their own...we provide a couple of things for babies and toddlers but that's because we are with TOTs. Plus as others have said, they never replace ones that have burst. This summer some lovely guests bought a huge unicorn and left...

All good here thanks PW! It actually wasn't as bad as the August storm 2 yrs ago where we got flooded out. As usual Ibiza Town got flooded including the port where they had done millions of euros worth of work over the past 18mths to prevent the port flooding and sewage going into the water there. I...

I would not bother. Our experience is they ask a million questions, take no notice of the answers you give. Constantly on the phone from the gite with ridiculous questions or complaints. When they leave they just walk away, no attempt at cleaning. No attempt to speak the language, just shout loud. ...

  I'm just advertising as a normal rental villa. Honest! No mention of yoga (or sports come to that) so not sure why the guest thinks I would supply them! I thought it was an odd requests, even for here. I can see why they wouldn't want to try and pack a yoga mat....but was baffled as to w...

Oh lordy! As Mols said, you do wonder how some people manage to get through life.

Now, a question. Do any of you supply yoga mats? Or am I right to be slightly taken aback by being asked that question by incoming guests.

Please don't get stressed. I know! Easier said than done! But honestly people are much more understanding than you'd think. The key thing is informing guests. So tell them what has gone wrong/not working, tell them what you're doing to fix it and....if you feel the situation warrants it...give them ...
