Yes, Leon....but part of it was that there was no inter-country 'exchange'. The funds arrived in the UK in euros, and then were converted by the same bank...so maybe not so many 'commissions' to pay, and yes, Cassis, I think one needs to be careful when it's larger amounts, such as house sales / pur...

OD (/HA) Ranking metrics
Be warned, they seem to be having a fiddle this morning...I only logged in to update the calendar, but spotted a new 'button' under performance (I could hyphonate those last words, but that's a different issue!). Ranking Metrics : I get this message : "Unlock Performance Coaching Performance me...

Can you open a Euro account with your UK bank? We have one with Barclays, albeit we have a sterling business account with them too. When we sold our villa recently it saved us a huge amount on exchange, even on a quote from Transferwise. I realise that your property's in Cornwall, but if you are loo...

If she has a dedicated (Spanish) account for the rentals / expenses, perhaps she could use an intermediary account (eg. a UK one into which she receives the rental income) and transfer it to the Spanish one as the rentals occur? I guess the gestoria would have to approve....I'm sure it's been tried ...

Not confused here, but hope I haven't confused anyone else. I have just been declined an exemption by the local valuations office (South), as they regard the problems with the buildingas due to maintenance, not structural (ie. subsidence). So, although the property is uninhabitable (no bathroom/ boi...

Nightmare.... Presumably it wasn't leaking before you fitted the new liner? Or has it been empty for a while? Rather than refill, is it worth letting it leak / drain, to see at what level it stops? If it drains to the bottom, could it be the seal around your sump drain, assuming you have one in the ...

I really feel for you: Like Mouse, we've just been through this. Our neighbour's detached villa was demolished Jan last year, and is still being 'rebuilt' despite assurances from the architect that it would be finished...it's nowhere near done. We had to be honest: lost our existing booking, and wer...

Apologies...on further investigation it seems I've been 'caught' during the pop-up box debacle in December 2015...although I thought I had de-activated the 'alternative' payments, this hasn't happened....hence why the service charge is showing... Not that it matters that much at the moment, as eithe...

I'm not absolutely sure, and I can't check as I reported it as spam (ie. not a genuine enquiry). It was listed as a separate figure in the 'calculation', and was not an obvious deposit amount. However, I don't quote a fixed deposit (it's a % of the rental amount, so not usually included) and it was ...
