How To Set Pricing

When I last had a holiday rental property it was back in the days of subscriptions so you knew where you stood. You paid an annual fee to advertise, the price on the web was the price the guest paid and you received the proceeds in full. Fast forward and realistically the subscription model is truly...

Re: VRBO Non English Sites

In VRBO can put in your own spanish translation under the property section - "add another manual translation" ... but as your listing is migrated from booking.com perhaps no option - but worth looking ... The problem is that I'd have to do a manual translation for every language! I checke...

VRBO Non English Sites

I'm having a bit of a mare, and I'm sure there must be an easy fix even if the guy on the VRBO helpline doesn't seem to know what to do. I have recently listed my Spanish village house on VRBO via their 'transfer' service which lifted the majority of the info from my Booking.com listing. Even so I h...

Sites for the Staycation Market

My local tourist office provided the following in response to my question about where to list in order to appeal to the domestic market which is so buoyant right now. I hope it's useful. She's narrowed to Andalusia where I am, but they are for Spain in general. https://www.escapadarural.com/casas-ru...

Insurance

Which company do Spanish resident holiday rental owners insure with? I've contacted three brokers and they've all come back with Liberty Seguros, but the quotes vary substantially.

Getting fibre to my finca is the stuff of dreams  I don't even have ADSL. My domestic internet is a 'line of sight' system and it is pretty reliable, albeit at max 35Mbps download speed. Having just bought a village house for holiday rental, and that small village being cabled for fibre, it was...

VFT all done and dusted. No actual inspection though, just an online application with a licence number more or less by return.

VFT or VTAR

My 'little house' project is almost ready for furnishing etc. now that the builders have finished and I will be submitting the licence for tourist accommodation. The question I have is which type of licence should I be applying for? The property is a typical 'pueblo blanco' village house, inland, wi...

Advice on Best Listing Option

Over four years have passed since I was last marketing a holiday rental property and so much has changed in terms of the runners and riders in terms of the listing sites and how to target a marketplace in this current environment. My new holiday rental proposition is the complete opposite of what I ...

I must bear that one in mind - it's cheap enough not to be worried about getting regular bookings from it. There are still not a lot of properties on the site though. For the whole of Málaga province there are only 31 listings. My new venture will be a village house in a small pueblo so very much un...

Re-Registering a Car

Just a quickie. If I moved to France and brought my Spanish car with me how long would I have before it had to be re-registered on French plates and roughly how much does the process cost?

Salt-Free Water Conditioners/Softeners

Howdy all :D I am hoping for a bit of expert guidance, but I feel like an intruder because I now live in what was once my holiday rental property. My place is rural and the water supply is via an inconsistent town water feed into a deposit. The water is mineral water, untreated, and of great drinkin...

I feel rather sad reading all the comments about chucking away synthetic duvets once a year because it costs more to launder them than replace them. The fillings are not exactly biodegradable  Sheets and blankets resolve the problem of seasonal changes because you just layer according to overni...
