Impact of ceasing trading on health care

Does anyone have any experience of winding up a gite/b&b business but continuing to access French healthcare? We sold our gite business last year but we still own a small village house which we rented out for short breaks. We have now let the house to a long term tenant but of course this means ...

We upped sticks from West London to move to the middle of nowhere just over 4 years ago. Absolutely love it and we have made more friends than we ever had back home. Winter can be a bit bleak but we do more socialising and impromptu drinks than we ever did in 25 years in a big city. Our kids are gro...

We have had ABB bookings (for bed and breakfast) and when the guests leave they say "oh, we must settle up with you - how much do we owe you?". Needless to say they are always delighted when we tell them that they have already paid

I'm sure you already have, but if not, double check that there isn't a "hidden" drawer at the bottom of the oven - I've been caught out like that before  ....although that is unlikely to solve the pint glass issue

Hi Gill - I had exactly the same query as you when I wanted to put our 2 gites on last year. I sent them an email and they responded very quickly saying that it was fine to have the commission/quickbook option for both. Drop them a line, they were very helpful. Can't help with the payment question, ...

Occasionally for no apparent reason the oven won't work. Then we spot that the clock is flashing. Turns out that there's been a power cut (even for a few seconds) and the clock resets to zeros and starts counting from then but still flashes . The oven won't work like this ?!!! We have to reset the ...

We stock up on the window ones from Wilko whenever we are in the UK. The pack has a purple one that you just use with water and a blue one that you then wipe the water off with. Truly marvellous (and dirt cheap too) Window cleaning is now a pleasure....sort of... 8)

Having recently replaced our own crockery in Ikea, I would say that they are becoming more savvy (from a retail point of view) and whilst they continue to offer the plain white stuff, they do tend to slightly alter the sizes - not a major problem with the plates, but it is now impossible to find bow...
