These are very neat tips, Mousie. Particularly the one for getting the site a mention in reviews.

Mouse how do they go about finding the owners when they want to book direct?? Kate, You have to use a bit of intelligence to search using property name, maybe owner name, or you're a bit more clever you can use Google image search in the hope that there is a reasonably unique photo on the listing s...

Do not HomeAway have all this information anyway, including an owner's bank details for use when they make rent payments? I don't think that this is a request for the information, but just to tell you what HA are obliged to do to comply with French law. So I think you could discount it as being a ki...

"Your place" covers every type of accommodation and is a scammer's give-away phrase, and which they so often use. I have never seen or heard it used in a genuine situation.

I was once, some years ago, offered a spot in Norwegian Airways' inflight magazine. It came to nothing in the end, so I can't give statistics.

Re: Homeaway - Terms & Conditions Update

"• It’s now specified that you are required to comply with our new discount guidance." I have quickly run through the pages of their new T&Cs but can't find any reference to the 'discount guidance' mentioned. Interested to see what they mean by this. The only reference to "discou...

I had the exact same for same dates a few days ago approx half hour apart for same dates end of Sept 2020, I was also wondering? They were also very unusual surnames.. and looking for immediate reply for dates that are so available?? Scam it is and from the same source. "Please approve our&quo...

Anything which pulls the plug on the commission that these greedy OTA's charge will be be a boon to owners and holidaymakers alike. I have watched the promotion video on locktrip .com but I find it hard to follow, but then 'blockchain' is still a puzzle to me. Am I to understand that owners would re...

Sorry to read you had such a terrible holiday with an owner who seemingly didn't give a damn. Is there nowhere you can write an equally terrible review? I don't suppose AB&B because you booked directly, but maybe TripAdvisor.

It's not my territory, I know, but I do follow this thread with morbid interest, because SH now has the worst pricing model I could ever imagine. It leaves the likes of HomeAway and TripAdvisor standing. Random enquiries don't equal actual bookings. They're crazy!

Stranger Trips

I looked up 'Stranger Trips' on Instagram and they do seem to have quite a big and appreciative following, from reading some of the many comments there. Their mass of photos from numerous destinations are interesting too and professionally taken. However there was nothing I could see there which rem...
