Andy, may I ask whether you used an online web-builder for your sites? If so, which one and who does your hosting please?

Yes, sometimes happen to us - I always wonder why, as our contact details are prominently displayed in our cottages (and we put business cards out)! Only explanation I can see is the notion of agencies being more secure - although with the recent (and ongoing) Sykes and cottages.com debacle over ref...

One, in the Dales, tends to appeal mainly to walkers and gets almost exclusively 7 night bookings - and is on a Saturday changeover. The other two are in the seaside resort of Whitby. Although many do...

Why on earth have some Welsh authorities allowed so many 2nd homers to go onto business rates? Do they not understand the difference between these and legitimate small businesses? This seems to be what is at the root of the problem.

Can't imagine how the 2nd homers get to go on business rates! No wonder they get such a bad name - remember the old "Not The Nine o'Clock News" skit "Come Home to a Real Fire -Buy a Cottage in Wales"?

Please have a look at the thread on owners being taken to court. It is getting really serious now.

OK, so the "Letters Before Action" have started dropping through owners' letterboxes. Looks like the fight is on. Have a look at the Sykes Cottage Owners FB page for the latest.

No pools at our cottages. They are all in North Yorkshire - our guests tend to go out.

We have received grants from two different local authorities. Both were really straightforward online applications. Upon pressing "send" we received email acknowledgements with claim numbers. About a week later (three working days in the first case) the cash appeared in our accounts. Sorry...

Wix or Weebly... or neither?

Apologies if this topic is covered elsewhere but I intend to spend some lockdown time creating a website. While not entirely new to this, (I built a site for a small business I had several years ago), I am out of touch with modern tools. What do others use? Wix and Weebly both seem popular, and easy...
