Why on earth have some Welsh authorities allowed so many 2nd homers to go onto business rates? Do they not understand the difference between these and legitimate small businesses? This seems to be what is at the root of the problem.

Can't imagine how the 2nd homers get to go on business rates! No wonder they get such a bad name - remember the old "Not The Nine o'Clock News" skit "Come Home to a Real Fire -Buy a Cottage in Wales"?

No pools at our cottages. They are all in North Yorkshire - our guests tend to go out.

We have received grants from two different local authorities. Both were really straightforward online applications. Upon pressing "send" we received email acknowledgements with claim numbers. About a week later (three working days in the first case) the cash appeared in our accounts. Sorry...
