Hi VT, There is a fund available to help small businesses affected by the virus epidemic. Basically they give a grant of 1500€ if the earnings in 2020 are less than 70% of 2019 earnings. You'll find a link below. Good luck https://www.secu-independants.fr/action-sociale/aide-coronavirus/?fbclid=IwAR...

Gillian, that sounds a real nightmare, I am so sorry to hear the problems you have had. We seem to have got off lightly (so far) although our smaller gites had water coming through the roof where the wind had blown the water up under the tiles (new, replaced last year). Luckily our guests had left t...

I am not sure what you mean by advertising on Google maps but you can place information about your villa on Google maps by setting up a Google my business account, which will allow you to add information regarding your villa to Google maps. It's free. Have a look at https://www.google.com/intl/ALL_s...

Oh dear, oh dear, I do hope the licencing authorities have better things to do with their time than chase down holiday home owners leaving their guests a welcome gift of a bottle of wine!

I also run the pump for an hour each day (or rather each noght as its cheaper) through the winter, I think it keeps everything moving and I believe cleaner. It does mean the water cant be dropped below the bottom of the skimmers though

I am with the others, running your pool for just 2 hours a day is insufficient, we have been running our pool for over 6 years and have never had a problem. When we took it over we were given this table to equate water temp to pump time. Water Temp °C Hours 0 -12 --------------- 2 13 - 16 ----------...

I agree with all of the above, but if there is an inconvenience (see what I did there :D) I think a gesture goes a long way to smoothing things out, bottle of wine, flowers or maybe a discount if they book again.

I would suggest that, unless there is something negative to say, then the review of the guest should be wholly positive, they paid, they turned up, they left without leaving a problem behind = perfect guest.

Hi Giuliano, I am not sure it's a scam, the address, post code and VAT number all line up with "The Group Company". might be worth checking with them first before you dismiss it.

Hi Gillian, how awful, my heart goes out to you, we all get these type of guests from time to time and they make our lives a misery, don't let them spoil it for the rest of your guests though. I do hope that Drax isn't right as to the cause of the stain, I would have thought that if it was faeces yo...

Another thing we do is to ask those with kids to put to one side any of the old inflatables they find which are u/s, or their ones which they puncture, so that we can dispose of them correctly. Hi Cricé, can you advise how to dispose of them correctly? We have been putting ours in the recycling bin.

I sympathise with you Wallypot but that's not a lot of help to you. I have just done an analysis of how much business HA bring us, the results are quite interesting (well to me anyway). We started in 2013. 2013 - 17 weeks HA - 17 weeks total 2014 - 5 weeks HA - 22 weeks total 2015 - 6 weeks HA - 17 ...

Thank you all for your responses. GillianF - after I created the poll I did think I should have put your option in there as well. LotBoy47 - we charges by the week and tend not to discount for under occupancy in peak season. zebedee - the Ts&Cs cover this very clearly so they are in definitely i...

Hi Geoff, My initial thoughts are that if you are selling the property rather than the business then there should be no special tax considerations. If you are selling the business, part of which includes the property then there may well be some special considerations. Just my (uninformed) opinion. H...

Too many guests.

Asking for a friend :D You have booked your 8 bed place out to 7 people, 6 adults and 2 children. The guests arrive in their cars, first one car, then two, then three, then four! It transpires there are 10 guests in the house, 6 adults and 4 children. "Oh, I thought children under 3 didn't coun...
