Jaki Congratulations on being able to look forward to a stress-free season - and many more! A good friend of mine has yet to finish her season this year and is really really tired and counting the days till she can wave goodbye to the last guest of the year. I am so glad I no longer have the hassle ...

Ibiza

Seen a news report about the rotten weather and flooding in Ibiza.
Hope Mousie is OK.

A Fruity Tale

So there I was, back in the kitchen again, facing a proliferation of pomegranates. Having learnt from my previous attempt at prying the pearls from the pith, I was already wearing my protective apron. Chopping board and freshly sharpened knife, bowl of cold water for rinsing messy hands, old carrier...

I would have thought that 4 days is plenty of time to finalise bookings, generally. However, things happen and maybe your original enquirer got too busy with whatever cropped up. Alternatively, he may be one of those types that enjoy the anticipation of a holiday without actually completing the book...

I agree with ianh100. Reduce the weekly rate a little, but ask them to pay the utility bills.

But that's the point, coys. There weren't even a few basics and essentials! But a 'welcome pack' was offered (in advance) as an optional extra. If not taken up I personally wouldn't 'expect' anything left for me in self catering accommodation. To be honest we tended to leave cleaning materials more...

Apparently it was booked through a package company, although I understand the villas are available without flights. There was an extra charge for a welcome pack of various foodstuffs including wine and beer, but no cleaning supplies. And no cleaning supplies or other essentials like kitchen roll, so...

Friends of mine are currently on holiday, they booked last minute and got bargain prices for the last week available in each of two 3 bed villas. However, there was no welcome pack in either and no cleaning materials, not even a dishcloth and a squeeze or two of washing up liquid. Nor any soap in th...

What an awful experience for you, but very well done on handling it so capably. I agree, your damages deposit seems rather on the low side for the size property and number of guests. My cottage sleeps 4 and I ask a €250 damages deposit, so on that basis, you could easily double or triple what you cu...
