I work on the basis you can only sell a week once. If you book the same week in April one year and May the next this would skew your stats while the owner has exactly the same outcome. As long as overall occupancy is up on last year the timing of the booking is irrelevant. We have hardly any booking...

a longer period of extended loss of confidence in the UK Just wondering what you mean by your comment, Charles! Does this still include Scotland? We had our best year ever in 2014 and advances for 2015 are looking good. The Highlands have a very loyal fan base (UK and overseas) and we have not seen...

I just don't think there was the 'rush' this year, with the usual flood of enquiries and bookings at the start of the year. Instead, a steady trickle - our level of bookings is similar (and surprisingly slightly higher) than the same stage last year. I would like to see some more off peak weeks espe...

I agree about the subjective element to quality. But when I stay at a good place and feel I have had value for money it is normally very obvious. I think this is key: you can only know quality when you have experienced it. In the self-catering business this means after staying at a place, when you ...

Re: Q1 and early April 2013 UK Midlands Holiday Cottage Mark

2013 should be radically better than 2012. Now there is an optimist!!! I personally don't see any signs of radical improvement and would be happy with the same level of occupancy / revenue / profit as 2012. I am always interested in what you mean by 'better quality' - is that your perception, the o...

The reciprocal likes trickle in ... perhaps not everyone checks as frequently as others.

Re: Contact details

I think the problem here is that it seems that you had already decided not to have a phone number before you posted. The idea is to share experiences and if you ask a question be prepared that you may not hear the answer you want to hear. Actually, to be fair, it was delilah who opened the thread a...

Personally, I would not link to OD or HL - don't take potential guests away from your website. Keep them there as long as possible until they just HAVE to get in touch with you :) Try to avoid repetition of 'to see this ... click here'. Incorporate more natural text and use hyperlinks from within th...

When you have enough 'likes', you can go to www.facebook.com/username and select the page you want to rename. It will tell you if the one you want is available or not.

Good luck!

FB likes

Just wanted to thank everyone who liked my FB pages (see the sticky thread). I have nearly got to the magic 25 likes! I thought I was reciprocating by liking your pages from my pages but now realise that only personal likes count. So I will have another go!! Quick update: I have now been through the...
