Re: Listing Sites and Dynamic Pricing

The Independent Cottages listing site annoys me too, particularly the fact that the property search is based on words rather than geographical location. Other sites (Airbnb, Simplyowners) have location based searches with places coming up as you type the name in / maps / distance from location etc. ...

Re: Hive getting worse...again

Yes, it is the people -> invite option. We don't use it with guests though (who would need to have their own hive userid and the app installed). I remotely put the heating on before a guest is going to arrive and if they want to control the heating when they are there they can use the thermostat.

Re: Hive getting worse...again

TBH I've always thought Hive isn't user friendly. Never understood why a Hive Hub must be associated with one person (and their phone number with 2 factor authentication) making it hard for 2 people (e.g. husband and wife) to both be able to remotely control their own house. We have got around this ...

Re: We have a new website

Your apartment looks lovely. I too would like to see availability before I filled in the form.

The "view testimonials" button on the accommodation page just takes you to the top of that page.

Re: Managing agent advice

This has been asked many times before and the general consensus seems to be that what works for one owner doesn't work for another. People have advised that you try to put yourself into the mindset of a prospective guest, google likely words, and see which sites come out near the top. Recently anoth...

Independent Cottages

Hello, I was wondering how fellow Independent Cottages subscribers are finding it these days as I need to decide whether to subscribe to another year soon and, personally, don't seem to be getting any bookings recently through them. My stats show no one has even clicked through to my website last mo...

Re: Insurance for UK Holiday Cottage/Annexe

We're not in the same situation as you - not an annexe in the grounds - and it is a broker, but I found i4me https://www.holiday-home-insurance.co.uk easy to talk to on the phone. You could give them a call, explain the situation and see if they can find anything suitable as they deal with several i...

Re: Is Dorset-uk.info a legitimate OTA?

Looks dodgy to me. I've looked at a few entries and they have definitely grabbed booking.com pricing, availability and reviews but also seems to have some inaccurate info, one talked about Weymouth as the locality when the flat was in West Bay. Have you tried the Dorset-uk.info "contact us"...

New LMH website - forum updates since last access?

The new website looks very smart and modern.... there's one thing that I haven't found how to do yet. I've always gone into the forum and clicked to see if there are any additions to any posts or new posts since my last log-on. Is this still possible and, if so, how do I do it? Thanks

Not 100% sure what you want to know but if you have access to the TV you can just sign out in Netflix (go into Get Help then Sign out). But if you don't have access to the TV then the person with the Netflix account - the guest - has to log off from all devices, which they can do if they log into th...

I went though a similar train of thought this spring. I bought a Wordpress plugin which provides an online booking system and got it working but I still haven’t put it live. l really like being able to check that I want to let customers book the days they have specified, and that I’ve got the price ...

I haven't had to buy a whole bed (our double is slatted so I'm a little worried now after reading the post above) but buying a new double mattress I went with Mattison after reading quite a few posts on this forum. It was good value but I found it a little firm when we slept on it. That was easily r...

Hi,

I'm also with Siteground and in a similar situation to you. Just wondering if you need the Growbig package if you stick with Siteground? I have the StartUp hosting one and it's been sufficient and saves some money.
