Topic: LESS RENTALS IF WE DON'T ALLOW DOGS?

We too are in Pembrokeshire, and whilst I would say that accepting dogs is likely to bring you more bookings (especially in the out of season period) it's not going to stop you getting bookings. We have chosen not to accept dogs (or any pets). Why? - because: => We have 3 cottages on the same site t...

Hi we are with Ecclisiastical via Boshers - we have our house and 3 holiday cottages on site. We had major water damage earlier this year and they have been fantastic in sorting it all out for us - and surprisingly the premium hasn't really gone up!

We too have just electric in the cottages. When guests arrive I point out the heating and just ask them to use as they see fit, but not to leave them on when they are out. So far it's not been too bad, although we;ve had a couple of occasions when they have obviously had the heating on full blast an...

Hi We too are in West Wales - we have a lake and also a stream running through our grounds. Neither are fenced off, but all guests are aware of them and the need for children to be supervised at all times. We have appropriate signage up. Also, our insurers are aware of the layout and situation so we...

We did it almost 5 years ago, moving from within the M25 (Surrey) to very rural West Wales, and have never looked back! Love the new lifestyle. It was tough to meet people initially but now have some fantastic friends. As long as you jump in with your eyes open and make the effort to put yourself ou...

We too have a damp issue - mostly brought on by people using the electric heaters and not ventilating the place properly so there is a build of of condensation! We've used this product - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004X4T190/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which is an additi...

Given that you live on site how can they distinguish between your household waste and that produced by the cottages? We just put all of ours into the same bin and don;t get charged! During peak weeks though we do also do at least 1 tip run a week with the overflow!

Hi, that is how we are set up - live on site with 3 cottages (one of which is attached to the main property). We pay Council Tax on the house and business rates on the cottages (although where we are in Wales business rates are zero at the moment).

Hi AnnieMarie You say that you have an attached annex, but is there an interconnecting door to your own home or is access just via separate private entrance? I think this makes a difference. We have an annex to our home which is a holiday let, but it only has a private access and the walls are super...

This smells of a scam to me - would you reply at all or just ignore? I had initially responded to an OD enquiry. I’m delighted to hear from you, i will like to make the booking done as soon as possible. I’ve contacted my associate about the cost for the period and he said he would arrange a cheque f...

We had a problem with mice and rats in our kitchen last year (our own house not our rental cottages). We set a few traps and quickly caught one massive rat! However we also made the error of putting down poison -it works great, but the smell of decomposing rat lingered for months!! We figured it had...
