Hi Isy, I would be inclined not to be over generous. Did you struggle to fill June last year? There is still plenty of time to go and most people won't start booking their summer holiday until after Christmas. Yes, a small discount for cleaning but won't you still offer a change of linen? I always s...

I leave one bath sheet and one hand towel (it is large enough to wrap around a head though!) and would be aghast if guests contacted me to ask for extra towels. Even in a hotel it is usual for only one bath & one hand towel per person - I realise these are changed on a regular, if not daily, bas...

Well said Mouse!

I take dogs and hope that guests find my place smart & stylish (?) but trying to find somewhere that doesn't look like it's in a 1980's timewarp when I travel with my dog can be very frustrating.

In 3 years, one booking - from France, and they were meeting up with family who lived in Liverpool! I have no idea why I don't get enquiries from abroad - probably because I only advertise on HL and don't have my own website. We are in such a great spot, but maybe a little off the beaten track (or W...

My normal maximum is two (although it states one on my HL page, just gives me a bit of flexibility) Funnily enough I get quite wound up about those "8 adults 5 children" enquiries (max 10!!!) but don't mind the "can we bring 3 well behaved dogs" I make a £25 extra charge for more...

Hi Derek, Welcome to the forum. Like Apexblue the majority of my bookings come from HL - I was slower to book up this year but got there eventually and I only had one review up until a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps it is because we are UK based?? I don't like them as much since they were taken over a...

I would say to anyone not yet booked, don't panic yet! Wait til the kids are back at school, everyone can catch their breath & realise that winter is approaching - oh, and cards and wrapping paper hits the shelves!! We are booked, but this is a repeat booking who re-booked the day they left (it ...

Hi Kathy, I agree with the others that if you don't have a contract with them then they may not realise they are doing anything that may upset you. They are only going for 6 days, presumably so they can be back for change-over, and in their minds, not letting you down at all. I suppose you need to d...

We have very soft water in our area (thank the Lord!) so no problem with limescale but my tip for bathrooms is Flash spray with bleach. I give the tiles, bath, loo, sink, screen and taps a really good spray (it foams up so you can see where you've done) and leave for 20 mins while I strip the beds. ...

That would make me so mad! I'm a non-smoker and very anti-smoking. It annoys me when I turn up at my place and find cigaretter butts stuck in the planters and left on the patio. Grrr! but smoking in the house is the ultimate insult. Bob has said it very well. I would keep the entire security deposit...

Hi Kathy,

Would you consider N Wales - the house is roomy, sleeps 10 and I would happily take 3 whippets.

Bit of a drive from the south coast but its a lovely area with plenty of woodland walks and beaches nearby.

PM me if you are interested

Hi Apexblue I use JW Jones & Sons in colwyn bay. I find them no more expensive than BG - very helpful and because I'm a "regular" they always get out to me in a day or two (sometimes the same afternoon) They remind me about the safety cert. which is useful because I've got a memory lik...

Hi Dorset, We've just had panels installed at home - we sat down and did the sums & worked out that they should pay back in about 6 years. I'm at home all day with the little one so all the laundry, dishwasher, baking is done during the day. We also have put timers on the stuff that is left 'on'...

No product in particular but I always like to check out Dunelm.

The prices are reasonable enough to allow for a yearly change, the quality is good (though not brilliant) and they normally have a good/trendy colour selection

Having said that I always spend more than I intend when I go so beware!
