I'm in a similar situation - currently on the market with quite a lot of forward bookings. My solicitor has given me lots of sound advice but transfer of monies should be included in your contract with your buyer (if you are selling your holiday let as business - as I am) Split payments are fine and...

Selling up!

Well, OH & I have decided to chuck in the towel and sell our farm and holiday cottage business. It will be on the market soon with Savills if anyone is interested. As a few LMHers know I've been in this business for over 20 years now and I'm not sure I like the way the holiday rental business is...

Pretty rubbish here this year. I hate to mention the B word, but after several years with increase on increase, I would say iit's having an effect here. I've had no enquiries (let alone bookings) from Dutch or Germans for 2 years now!

I don't think I'd put Classic Cottages in the Small category. The questions you ask are best put directly to them about advertising and coverage etc. It was a long time ago I was with them and the market has changed significantly in the past few years, but I was getting about 32 weeks on average - n...

Hi Classic Cottages and Helpful Holidays specialise in the West Country. I used Classic until 15 years ago when I went it alone and have never really warmed to Helpful Holidays (when they told me that I couldn't expect more than 14 weeks occupancy - I get 3 times that!) I expect they have change eno...

Namaste Sarah! I host a lot of Yoga retreats (and writers and sewing retreats too). I am able to offer a large indoor yoga space and plenty of bedrooms, but the deal sealer is the in-house catering, which I provide (vegan, veg and non-veg), and the ability for the participants to take their meals to...

Annew, Did the insurer's state a maximum number of swimmers? If so can I ask the size of the pool please? No TP ... but I have to restrict the opening hours to 12 or less per day and provide signage showing the deep and shallow end. There is a clause in my insurance about the age at which children ...

Hi there I have just had major conversations with my DC in Devon who have, eventually, agreed with me that my pool is NOT a public pool and does not need to be monitored by them. (personally I think they are trying to hit quota at the moment and to do this have just googled holiday cottages with po...

I have just had major conversations with my DC in Devon who have, eventually, agreed with me that my pool is NOT a public pool and does not need to be monitored by them. Not sure what you can get in France, but my cleaning team swear by Deepio (available from Makro) and I am a big fan of Barkeepers Friend and Shadazzle, both available on-line all over Europe I gather! I too am baffled by what guests manage to do to baking trays - I have taken to providing cheaper qu...

In reply to the OP Q, yes 15 yrs experience says - it is worth it. Cheaper, quicker & more efficient customer service ... no brainer! FWIW it's still very easy to change suppliers with a business account too should you wish to do that. Also, in my experience, it is easier to do a deal with your ...
