Just leave a bottle of Marsovin's Cassar de Malte or any wine produced locally. Don't bother about shampoos etc as most people prefer to buy their own.

If the pillows smell musty chuck them out and start again. Use pillow protectors (I use quilted ones from M&S) and give them a quick wash them at every changeover. They don't take long to dry.

Returning guests often book shortly after their yearly visit but new visitors tend to book in January and February. I think once Christmas is over thoughts turn to summer holidays.

Did you get a refund of three years CSG, following the EU ruling that it was illegal to charge CSG to holders of S1? We did. But of course they then changed it, and we got charged again for 2016 income.

So does the S1 count for nothing as regards social charges?

I assumed that with the tax forms being online the tax rules would be much the same in each department. As regards taxe de sèjour here the rate is 20cents pppn for non-classé to 80cents for 5* so if it were just a case of registering at the mairie you wouldn't have a star rating. I keep reading this...

I thought it was just the law that gites had to be registered at the mairie but classification was done by the chamber of commerce, tourist information or organisations like Gites de France. Inspected and given so many epis or clés according to the facilities.

I wish someone would answer this question as I am in exactly the same position as limousin-cottage. Getting a classification would mean paying a lot more taxe de sèjour (which I can't be bothered collecting from the guests). I don't think the social contributions depend on how much tax you are liabl...

I do very well with Ferienhausmiete. Still on the original free advertising. Does anybody know if that will stop?

Another site that does well is France Voyage. Not expensive and your ad is shown in six different languages.

That's sheer laziness on their part. They are lucky to have recycling bins outside. Our guests have to go some distance to find the recycling bins in the commune.

I don't find white print on a dark background easy to read so I would always vote for black print on a light colour.

You're a better man than I, Zebedee, as after careful perusal I still can't find the prices. Far too much detail throughout. I'm drowning!

Perhaps I've looked too quickly but I can't find any prices. I wouldn't enquire until I knew how much it would cost. Also if you have a blog you need to keep it up to date. As for the photos, you don't need several photos showing the same thing. And there are too many pages. Get out the pruning shea...

If I ever get an enquiry through TA, which is very rarely, I always find some crytic way for the prospective giters to find me through our own website. Anyway I think people are getting more savvy about TA, realising how much extra they have to pay to book through them, and just look at the reviews.

Exactly! I am using teatowels with burn holes, towels with bleached patches, and one of my sheets has indelible bootprints on it, and another nail varnish.
