Like so many others we have benefited hugely from your sage advice and voice of reason over the years. I always enjoy reading your posts and hope you will continue to contribute. Your skills in coming up with just the right phrase for calming the waters is also much appreciated. Have 'borrowed' quit...

In a situation such as yours Gillian, I use GetNotify to show me if an important email has been read. I do not use it for every email I send, but it is useful for telling you key emails have been received. (This is not the same as a read receipt, as the recipient does not need to do anything. They d...

You could use eRichard's PIMS management software and calendar. https://holidayrentalmanagement.com. In fact I believe you can use the calendar without the rest of the package, although I think the software is well worth the cost of the subscription. It enables you to set up template emails, avoid d...

Very surprised to hear anything negative about their support... they're normally quick and extremely helpful. Suggest you give them another try.

Offering discounts did not work for us. We tried it in the early days and in every instance had issues - concluding we had undervalued our product and sent the wrong message to guests. Also it gets tricky if/when you've offered a shoulder season discount then they ask to return in peak weeks. No tak...

After a disappointing Jan/Feb/Mar for enquiries we have recently taken a flurry of bookings making the calendar look more respectable, though not full yet. Brexit??

We only take direct bookings through our website. It's the blog posts that help people to find us.

In the UK you can buy WiFi repeater sockets, so no issues with guests unplugging or removing devices. Presumably similar devices are available to replace European sockets.

This is what we have:

Not yet available in Cyprus!

Thought I'd give Igor's idea a try...

Bing have rather a limited selection of countries so far (and Cyprus isn't one of them.)

You may have more luck if you register with Stripe via WaveApps - I'm sure I remember reading comments about this, and that's the way I did it. Once registered you don't need to use the Wave invoicing if you don't want to.

Could you ask for a screen grab to confirm that a bank transfer has been made?

(It's not an issue we face as virtually all our guests are based in the UK like us, with Faster Payments being almost instant.)

If you just want to be able to offer online payments, I'd say Wave/Stripe is a simple solution as Jenster suggests. The 1.4% transaction fee is far lower than PayPal - a big consideration now that it has to be absorbed into your costs. https://www.waveapps.com/ eRichard has just added a Stripe payme...

HBook WordPress plugin

Starting a new thread on this following Rosebud's one about FreetoBook. Having just learned about this WordPress booking system plugin via Facebook group from Paula, the owner of https://mayoholidaycottage.com , I wonder if anyone is already using it, and could share their experiences? It might be o...
