Try to balance the pages visually. The right sidebar extends way lower than most page content leaving a huge empty void. Imagine your pages as pages in a magazine. Would you expect to see big empty spaces with no content?

Thanks Andy you've made it much clearer now. I can totally understand your frustration and HL are indeed being very unfair and inflexible. I was not in fact wrong in my understanding of what you are doing right now but at the same time I can see why you've been pressured into this situation.
