That's not a bad theory Ben so I just checked and with my measly bookings that's not hard :-) I took 2 bookings in April and 1 on June 3rd so my calendar would have got updated on June 3rd or within a couple of days of that. Enquiries this year: Jan - 2 Feb - 1 Mar - 2 Apr - 2 May - 5 June - 2 July ...

Hello there, long time no chat (for anyone who remembers me that is :-) ) Just popped by to say that something very strange has happened over the last few days. Like Jaki I have had a dreadful year for enquiries from OD for the first time in 12 years ! I don't get tons of bookings but never much tro...

Apologies Nemo, my comments related to the above which I thought might be a mistake but I was too lazy to do the quote bits.

Talking of grease spots on clothes, I got one on a blue dress while we were in Aus. Hunted high and low and couldn't find any grease remover in the house rental so turned to the web for home made solutions. First one I tried was to pour coca cola on the grease spot, it definitely made it less obviou...

I'm only on Owners Direct Martha and not prepared to pay for a Special Offer (think most sites want paying for this). I guess if you have your own site you can show it as a special offer but I don't have my own site.....still  I don't think there is a specific science to this, what works for o...

I wouldn't worry LV, I have the same worries as you but it doesn't stop me changing my prices when I feel the need, mostly downwards. Admittedly I don't get as many bookings as you so tend to do it by changing the price band 'up to' the last booked date i.e if I had bookings from 15th July but nothi...

Re: World finance - how the Irish cope with debt....

Just re-read this and realised that the hotelier is still owed $100 by the prostitute........ Not convinced, but then I'm not an accountant. The prostitute gave the hotelier €100, so she's cleared her debt to him. The hotelier is still €100 out of pocket, but that's because he spent money (b...

On the contrary GG, my Dad can still only walk for a very short period of time without intense pain but rather than go in a wheelchair he sits/potters around at home  I even borrowed one, took it up there & said 'hey, let's go out', I got very short shrift from him about not being at that s...

I'd never given a second thought to coat hangers before coming across the subject on this forum years ago. Ever since all mine have been wooden. I get quite cross when I find plastic or wire hangers left in the wardrobes by guests. Ditto LV, one of the first things I do is open the wardrobes & ...

I think I'm doing something wrong. I bought some about a year ago and thought they were fab, for a couple of weeks and then I noticed when the sun shone through the window that the bathroom mirror was actually a bit smeary. I boiled them and that worked a treat but kind of came to the conclusion tha...

Up to you Jen but if you could have easily filled the dates, either 2 months ago or even now, then I don't see why you should as it was entirely his mistake. If you usually allow a day or two's gap or are just feeling the effort isn't worth it then I'd 'roll over'.

Hmm have to agree with you all re the cricket but the decision was kind of made for me & I'm not one to upset the apple cart lol. It was funny to see the Aussies leaving in droves early afternoon when we were in the city on the Monday, they don't hang around if they're disgusted. Hub went the ne...

I'm in Aussie land

Hello peeps Yes I'm still alive and kicking ! After a nightmare journey which started promisingly with our Heathrow flight not being cancelled with the snow, we were kept outside the terminal building until 3 hours before the flight. It was flipping freezing & we thought it sensible to arrive ea...

I wouldn't be too happy with a standard double, most places seem to have king size now. Interestingly enough, we're currently in a rental in Melbourne with daughter & son in law & they were complaining that we had the king and they had a double or queen. I thought our bed was larger than a k...
