Francebylocals.com Geniue or Dodgy?

Had an email from francebylocals.com claiming to confirm a booking with us this morning.

Which is interesting as we’ve no idea who they are.

Genuine or fake as a politician’s smile?

Our experience with B.com and AirBnB is that dynamic pricing doesn’t take the facilities that your accommodation offers and just tries to match room prices. We get “other hosts in your area are charging way, way less than you - use our dynamic pricing..” messages all the time which are totally ignor...

I suspect that a lot of Brits that would have normally holidayed overseas in the summer are taking autumn/winter staycations instead.

We’ve been lucky that weeks normally filled by Brits were taken by French and Dutch guests.

Turn off TVs etc. instead of leaving them in standby.

Be careful reducing pool pump hours when the pool temp is above 20° or you could have an algae bloom. You’ll have to keep the chemistry correct even though it’s not in use until you close it for the winter.

Give the algae patches a good brushing before treating the water as some algae type form a crust on their surface which can stop the chemicals reaching the parts you need to kill.

Pour 10 litres of rattrapage in, give it a good brush and run the pump for the next 48 hours.

Be aware that you won’t get an accurate chlorine reading using check strips for a few weeks afterwards, so continue to shock as normal.

The general opinion amongst the Brits I know here and back in the U.K. is that they’d only fly to/from the U.K. for a family emergency. My mother and sister have postponed any visits to us until 2021 as my mother’s 84 and my sister is a care worker at an old people’s home. Both continue to self-isol...
