Thanks Jak!
That's very useful.
I am thinking we'll just try Friday for a season and if it doesn't work then we will have learnt our lesson! X

Thanks so much Elena. I was veering towards sticking to Saturday and you have changed my mind! I'm thinking I might try Friday for a season and see how we get on. And thanks costa-brava too! When I say flexible, I don't mean on the day of arrival, I just mean early check ins or late check outs. The ...

Changeover day

I'm wondering if I can pick some brains please... My housekeeper is very keen for me to change our current changeover day of Saturday to another day for the 2021 season. This is purely for ease - we could be far more flexible for people with late/early flights and the cleaners would not be in such a...

I totally agree with CSE on this. I'm offering a change of date or moving the holiday to next year. This situation is dreadful enough for everyone-and if I can make it just a little bit easier for someone then I will. We have had a huge outlay on the house this winter, on various things, and finding...

As we're coming to the end of the season, I thought I'd just update everyone on how it went. I offered all my clients a 10% discount or a full refund. Everyone, without exception was lovely and accepted the discount graciously (I had to go to 15% with one client but it was two weeks in August and I ...

Thankyou so much Sanchismo. I have started informing the guests, literally with my hands over my eyes... So far the response has been mainly positive, but quite a few are "thinking about it" Which I totally understand. I'm now wondering about how to market it to fill our empty weeks...what...

Thanks zebedee. I will definitely offer full refunds too.
It would be a shame but nobody should be beholden to a holiday they didn't sign up for (ie a noisy one)
And also a discount on next year is a cracking idea - that has also been suggested by a lovely friend who has been through this herself.

Finally our house manager has managed to speak to the builders. They reckon one more month of this terrible noisy stuff then just "normal" building site noise for two villa's and two pools. Not great but not as disastrous as the piling and drilling. Do you think 10% is a fair enough discou...

Hi everyone. Sorry to have not responded. My email notifications seem to be off! Zebedee - thankyou. Very sound advice. I will indeed telephone our guests and explain that an email in imminent. God I am dreading it! :( gardenboy-I'm home in the UK now. We did try to speak to the foreman but they hav...

Thanks so much to the majority of the contributors who have given me advice. The complaint went into the Town Hall today, and once they've inspected the site they will hopefully have some answers for us regarding time-frames etc. But as you've all suggested I will be informing my guests about the di...

And thankyou costa-brava. But I don't want to "tackle the neighbours"
I wanted some advice on a very worrying issue that I had.
And yes. You misinterpreted alot that I said.

casasantaestovo - at no point have I confused an IBI and an ETV. And I'm really not sure where that assumption comes from. I am painfully, and 28,000 euro later, aware of what an ETV is. But you're obviously king of the castle where Lay My Hat is concerned and I bow to your superior knowledge. I'm n...

Thanks ECOSSE. I do indeed have a bona fide, very beautiful and totally legal holiday let. I misunderstood the thinking behind this forum obviously. I believed that this was a place where I could come for some salient advice about an issue that has just arisen, that is really worrying me, and will a...
