An alternative for the summer?

This is a slightly strange request I know but..... Is there a couple in any part of France between the Charente and the Italian border who (1) love dogs but don't have any of their own (2) are not taking bookings this summer because of Coronavirus (3) would consider housing our two adorable but larg...

Thanks, everyone, for your comments. I was correct then - we're not meant to be open. The BBC news article about the ski chalet just confused me!

Open or closed in France?

I'm confused... We run gites & chambres d'hôte and I also run day (& residential) textile classes. Because of the lockdown we are, of course, closed. No classes, no gite/B&B guests... That was my understanding of the lockdown rules. Today there's a story on BBC news about a a chalet refu...

Chez Nous and Coronavirus

I'm based in France... With so much going on in the world I'd lost track of the fact that our Chez Nous advert ran out yesterday. I rang them this morning and while waiting to be connected, browsed their website. Not one single mention of Coronavirus... In the last 7 days or so I've received emails ...

Hi, See my post directly above your original, willscottage. I use Hilden. I know a lot about textiles and opted for 80/20 for a variety of reasons. You do need 3 sets per bed - that's what we've found. We spent £2,000 on bedding in around June 2016 and apart from a few stained pillowcases we've thro...

Holiday let in Suffolk?

My friends are moving back to the UK (from France) on Sat 19th Oct and are looking for a holiday let for 2 weeks for themselves and their lovely dog Chivers. (Labrador, gentleman, 11 years old). Do any of you know of somewhere suitable? I just thought I'd try to help them find somewhere because ther...

Hi... We have one gite available from 31st Aug: We've not advertised it as available because it has 3 bedrooms but we need to clear one of the first floor bedrooms for some updating work. However, you could have the ground floor - one large en-suite bedroom - since you're just a couple. There's a lo...

I buy from www.hilden.com - great service and great value. We use their Delio range, which is 80/20 cotton/polyester. It has a 20mm woven stripe and the satin weave (the stripes) - along with the fibre content - helps make it easier to iron than 100% cotton, but you wouldn't know it wasn't 100% cott...

Thanks for all the replies - it's interesting to read other people's points of views. Thanks also for the contact details Oasis couple. It sounds as if my rough calculation at 5% of around €50 (if 6 adults) per week is about right - we're not classified. I'd rather advertise the price the guests wil...

Taxe de Sejour from 2019 - surely not €300+?

I've been reading a thread about Taxe de Sejour on a Facebook page. The discussion concerns the new way they're going to be calculating this tax from Jan 2019. The sums quoted/suggested vary between worrying and criminal...depending on how you do the sums. Can anyone clarify this please? We're just ...

We bought all ours from hilden.com and I'm really pleased with it. I found the customer services helpful - they even sent out full size samples for me to look at, so I could check the quality and launder them before deciding what to buy. The prices seemed great to me and the quality is excellent - w...
